SeaWorldSan Diego, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and Living Coast Discovery Center breed Clapper rails at their facilities. At approximately 50 days of age the birds are transferred to a pre-release conditioning pen, managed by Wild Wings Research.

Clapper rails, coastal wetlands, and reintroduction efforts are explored through exhibits and behind the scenes tours at Living Coast Discovery Center, San Diego Safari Park, and SeaWorld San Diego. Wild Wings Research and partners welcome and encourage participation during some of our call counts and releases.

Richard Zembal, Principle Biologists, conducts yearly population  surveys in southern California through nest searches and call counts.
